Im a kiwi living in Australia for the past 40 years. Went with my cousin for lunch anti had to go back again before leaving Gisborne. Wow the taste of seafood took me back to when I lived in NZ. Loved every bite. Pineapple ring is definitely the best I have had in over 40 years. Family friendly. Staff could be friendlier and less chatty with each other. But hey food top notch

Change review to 3 stars,my eggs in the Benedict were hard az owl chef,that's a first and last here chef,got it right the first time chef.
First breakfast here in many years, the reviews were a big factor not coming,but had to find out for myself,not bad the egg Benny it was pretty good,smokey bacon,lots of sauce,very early so only 2 of us,it was a once a bustling business,very busy how things have dramatically changed,it's pricey compared to elsewhere,service ok,compliments to the chef today.

Open for early breakfast and lovely service when we ordered our breakfast.... however food delivered abruptly and not with much friendliness. Raw tomato, raw spinach and 3 of 4 poached eggs were hard and for paying $16 and $18 for our plates, we were extremely underwhelmed. We also were disappointed to be served food on a chipped plate which poses a potential food safety risk :(

I've been coming to Captain Morgans most of my life. Its good honest food. Service is always pleasant along with the atmosphere.
Update:
Went there this morning. 2x flat white 2x condon bleu $16. Service not the best, not the worse Condon Bleu looked and tastiest like it was cooked yesterday. Hard as rock! Coffee was ok, no sugar packets at the counter, and it's little stuff like that, that are annoying for me as a customer. Was going to originally have breakfast but $16 for avo/toast & egg just didn't sit with me today. General standard has lowered in my opinion.

I never leave reviews but I had too! This place is amazing. Kai was perfect! Chips were perfectly cooked and so was the fish. Bubble teas are so reka!! Not from Gisborne but would definitely come back and eat here again 😍😍 situated right next to the beach, just such a perfect nice place to eat.
